How will the Second World War be remembered? This autobiography offers a panoramic view of the conflict and with entries from all the major figures of the war, including Churchill, Field Marshal Montgomery, Hitler, Stalin and Rommel, as well as accounts from the men and women on the front line, the home front and those unfortunate to be prisoners of war, from all sides of the conflict. Not as a series of strategic battles but as a dramatic turning point in world history, recorded through the personal accounts, diaries, and speeches of those that were there. World War Two: the Autobiography places centre stage the individual accounts of over 200 people who saw events unfolding before their eyes: from the first stirrings of Nazi aggression, to the phoney war and the Blitzkrieg; from the frozen wastes of the Eastern Front to life under the threat of the Blitz in London.

д. 2. К этой группе относятся варваризмы – неассимилированные или слабоассимилированные в английском языке единицы, отличающиеся наибольшей степенью новизны, например: dol oday she has made her seco d delay-drop of 15 seco ds. 9. Lo do busme we o s rike dema di g he 15 shilli gs-a-week i crease of pay. 10. Several leaders of he s rike were clubbed a d he ques io ized a he police s a io . 11. |When Lines Become Crossed. How The British Government Shaped The British Red Cross' Humanitarian Aid Efforts During World War II Книга по Требованию Karen V. |
Using financial contributions, travel restrictions, security measures and government agents as a means of controlling the Society' s behavior, the British government ensured that the BRC gave priority to the needs of the government over humanitarian concerns. The circumstances of World War II caused the British government to realize the value of the BRC, and to establish control over it by making it a quasi-government department. Publications of the British Red Cross (BRC) Society suggest that it operated as a non-governmental organization during World War II. But unpublished primary documents indicate that the organizational structure of the BRC changed during the war. Rather than performing an NGO role, the BRC became an agent of the British government, taking over many of its responsibilities and acting on its behalf in foreign nations.

After the outbreak of the Second World War, in the British Crown Colony of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), the government of Sir Baron Jayatilleke assured the British king and his majesty' s government of its continued support. The British had occupied the coastal areas of the island since 1796, but after 1917 the colony had no regular garrison of British troops. The Ceylon Defence Force and Ceylon Navy Volunteer Reserve were mobilized and expanded. The Royal Navy maintained naval installations in Trincomalee and the Royal Air Force (RAF) had established an aerodrome in China Bay, Trincomalee long before the war. After the fall of Singapore the Royal Navy' s East Indies Station was moved to Colombo and then to Trincomalee.

|Territorial Changes of Germany after World War II Книга по Требованию Lambert M. S. |
The final decision to move Poland' s boundary westward was made by the US, Britain and the Soviets at the Yalta Conference, shortly before the end of the war. The precise location of the border was left open; the western Allies also accepted in general the principle of the Oder River as the future western border of Poland and of population transfer as the way to prevent future border disputes. The open question was whether the border should follow the eastern or western Neisse rivers, and whether Stettin, the traditional seaport of Berlin, should remain German or be included in Poland. As it became evident that the Allies were going to defeat Nazi Germany decisively, the question arose as to how to redraw the borders of Eastern European countries after the war. In the context of those decisions, the problem arose of what to do about ethnic minorities within the redrawn borders.
