The Jamaican pound was also used by the Cayman Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands. The pound was the official currency of Jamaica between 1840 and 1969. The peculiar feature about Jamaica was the fact that it was the only British West Indies territory to use special regional issues of the sterling copper coinage. Exceptions to this are a copper penny issued in the Bahamas in 1806, and also the four pence groat coin which was specially issued for all the British West Indies, and later only for British Guiana. See Currencies of the British West Indies. The earliest money in Jamaica was Spanish copper coins called maravedies. It circulated as a mixture of British currency and local issues and was always equal to the British pound. The history of currency in Jamaica should not be considered in isolation of the wider picture in the British West Indies as a whole. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles!

|The 158-Pound Marriage RH USA John I. |
The Washington Post The darker vision and sexual ambiguities of this erotic, ironic tale about a menage a quatre in a New England university town foreshadow those of The World According to Garp; but this very trim and precise novel is a marked departure from the author' s generally robust, boisterous style. Though Mr. Irving' s cool eye spares none of his foursome, he writes with genuine compassion for the sexual tests and illusions they perpetrate on each other; but the sexual intrigue between them demonstrates how even the kind can be ungenerous, and even the well-intentioned, destructive.

|Jamaican Patty Книга по Требованию Frederic P. M. |
As its name suggests, it is commonly found in Jamaica, and is also eaten in other areas of the Caribbean, such as Costa Rica' s Caribbean coast. In Haiti, the pastry is thick and crispy, making it essentially a turnover. It is traditionally filled with seasoned ground beef, but fillings can include chicken, vegetables, shrimp, lobster, fish, soy, ackee, mixed vegetables or cheese. In Jamaica, the patty is often eaten as a full meal, especially when paired with bread. It can also be made as bite-sized portions called cocktail patties. Amongst the Jamaican diaspora in the UK, the pastry is more like that of a suet crust, and often made with the fat from Curry Goat which provides the yellow color. A Jamaican patty is a pastry that contains various fillings and spices baked inside a flaky shell, often tinted golden yellow with an egg yolk mixture or turmeric.
